Dugongs!

Preschool 5 have been learning about dugongs as part of their current unit of inquiry on Under the Sea. Over 7,000 dugongs live in the ocean surrounding Qatar and Steve from ‘Entelek’ visited us in class to tell us how we can help to protect the dugong population in Qatar. We learned the differences between dugongs and manatees, what dugongs look like, what they eat, how they are endangered and how people can help to protect and look after the dugong population. The students developed the IB learner profile attribute of caring, as they made many suggestions about how to prevent dugongs becoming injured, and also the attribute of knowledgeable as they shared and demonstrated all the new facts they learned about dugongs. Each child also made a dugong from clay! 🙂 Great job, Preschool 5!
