Field Trip to Souq Waqif

Preschool 5 had a wonderful time visiting Souq Waqif as a provocation for our new unit of inquiry.

We will be learning about ‘Cultures and Traditions’ and we were inspired to begin exploring and asking questions by observing the Qatari culture around us at the souq.

We saw the camels, the falcons, the horses, we visited the Fanar and we saw the traditional clothes and artefacts on sale at the Souq.

We especially enjoyed our trip on the ‘rainbow bus’! 🙂

Hispanic Day 2017

The children in Preschool 5 had a wonderful day celebrating SEK Qatar Hispanic Day on Thursday.

We particularly enjoyed dressing up in clothes from Spanish speaking countries around the world!

With the help of the Spanish speaking teachers in the school, the children sang songs, played games and listened to stories in Spanish, and made our own Mexican sombreros!

We had a visit from the DP students who sang and danced with us to Spanish songs, and played a traditional Spanish game with us. At the end of the day, we even had some special visits from Spanish speaking parents who read Spanish stories to us.

What a great day!

We are Responsible – Field Trip to Purple Island

The children in Preschool 5 did a fantastic job of demonstrating the IB learner profile attributes of Caring and Principled, on their field trip to Purple Island.

The children enthusiastically participated in a beach clean-up in order to protect the wildlife living there. Well done Preschool 5! 🙂

Welcome to Preschool 5!

Thank you to all students and parents for a fantastic year! The students learned so much and really enjoyed their time in Preschool 5. The brilliant bunnies were a pleasure to teach and I am so proud of all their growth and achievements this year. I have learned so much from all your wonderful children and wish them all the best in the future. We have made some fantastic memories this year. This video from the graduation is a snapshot of some of the great time we spent in Preschool 5A 🙂 Thank you to all parents for the wonderful support, and thank you to the students for the wonderful memories! 🙂

Class Pet Turtles!

This week, students were introduced to their new class pet turtles. The students named their pets and even came up with rules on how to care for them. The Bunnies class named their turtles Strawberry and Blueberry, while the Ninja Turtles named theirs Roya and Max. The students have started a new unit called, “Under the Sea”, in which they will be learning about sea creatures, what they need to survive, and how our actions affect them. The students will use the class pets to demonstrate these lines of inquiry and hopefully take actions that extend their knowledge and learning outside of the classroom to their greater environment.

Student Led Conferences

Thank you to all parents who attended Preschool 5 student led conferences today. The children really enjoyed sharing their learning with you. This was an excellent opportunity for the children to demonstrate the fantastic progress they have made so far in Preschool 5, and also to feel proud of all of their accommplishments so far! Thank you!
